Review # 1 was written on 2013-08-25 00:00:00 Gregory H Medlin OK, four months to read this one... Let me get this straight. This book was a perfect Bathroom Reading, one of those book with short chapters, or sections, that can be read when you're sitting on the toilet. I liked Mann's other book, Blinded by the Lyrics : Behind the Lines of Rock and Roll's Most Baffling Songs. For this reason I search for his other work and eagerly started reading. From an Italian point of view this book was difficult to read. On one hand some of the one-hitters mentioned in the book are not one-hitters in Italy. Secondly, Mann mentions so many compilation that are published only in the US, thus making in a bit boring for non-US. One thing I'd suggest to readers is this: don't read in the bathroom but someplace where you have some music player available so you can actually listen to the tunes presented in the book. ^__^
