This book raped my eyes. So, sometimes, I like to read chick-lit. Of course, I'll read it in private, lock all the doors, shut the blinds and make sure to punch a wall next time I'm angry. But anyway, I picked up this novel. The cover seemed pleasing enough, a woman walking in the rain almost monotone. It looked like a solid romance novel cover. Hell, even the title: Honor Thyself. Yes, when I read that I knew this was chick-lit. So after locking my doors, shutting the blinds and kicking my dog, I read Honor Thyself. The first 50 pages was the author bluntly stating how her character Carole was such a benevolent person and beautiful and all that...a regular mary-sue. The rest of it was just like one info dump after another. She could've been more descriptive about things rather than saying "they burst into tears" so many times...she tried too hard to milk some kind of sympathy from the reader but failed, either that or I have no soul. At one point, her character learns the word "fuck" and everybody laughs. Hell, I swear like a sailor (my father was a sailor) and chicks don't laugh... What is this?! I might pass out soon from all the rage slowly building inside of me from writing this review... So I have to cut it short. Danielle Steel (in later years) is a hack. A goddamned 13 year old girl could have easily written something of the same quality. What I gained from reading this novel: two broken knuckles and a strong taste for Jack Daniels.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Good plot and characters. Loved follow Carole's journey in reverse and actually found it added something to the story by doing so because readers were already introduced to Carole with some of her background so it was an additional investment in the sorry. The pace moves good and readers will be torn on their feelings for some of the characters and their subplots. Overall, an interesting and easy story to indulge.
