Review # 1 was written on 2010-10-24 00:00:00 Mona Deans Published in 1978, this was an early work applying the framework of E. O. Wilson's "Sociobiology" to human behavior. In this instance, evolutionary theory helps integrate and organize a book on sexual behavior. The book is not simply about avolution; it also encompasses other aspects of the biology of sexual behavior. Among subjects explored: the nature of evolutionary theory, the value and evolution of sexual reproduction, female versus male approaches to sec, mating strategies and social structure, parenting strategies, sexual physiology, sexual development andfdifferntiation, and sex and reproductive strategies. All in all, a comprehensive approach to human sexual behavior. The work is also accessible to a general readership--not just to academic specialists in the field. |
