Küng provides a comprehensive background of political theorists and economists in his work on finding a global ethic, in-depth enough to give the reader an understanding of the intricacies of the philosophies of Kissinger, Weber, Morgenthau, etc. while elementary enough to allow anyone with just a basic interest in global politics and ethics to follow. (i.e. Kissinger's thousand-page work "Diplomacy" and other political theorists are not required readings.) Küng, a leading Christian theologian, does reference Christianity and other major world religions somewhat regularly but seemed only to give a few ideas from these religions, possibly because he does not want to bog down the reading in religious theory as well. The book does rest upon the Golden Rule (Do unto others...) for both sections quite heavily, but Küng's broad religious textual support makes it appropriate. However, Küng offers very few tangible examples in his book. He instead seems to ask the audience to change their perspective on politics and economics, but he supports his call for change with numerous examples, both real-world and theoretical.
