Review # 2 was written on 2012-09-05 00:00:00 Naeem Gray I loved this book about a place I've been fascinated with since serendipty found me a camping spot at the rafters' take out point along the Green River near the town of the same name on a trip through Utah in the late 90s. The river poured out of Desolation Canyon (lower reach called Gray Canyon) and it sounded like a wonderful place to explore.... and here it is! Ellen Meloy has a great voice and I was sad to hear she died in 2004. I am now reading her "Anthropology of Turquoise."
