Being a translation of a bunch of papers on Critical Theory, sourced from a conference in Italy there are a couple of problems with the translation & proofreading, but its not bad enough to obscure the intended meaning. It's a very wideranging survey of the Frankfurt school, emphasising the importance, in particular, of Adorno. All in all a good introduction though I would have liked to see more credit given to Lukacs. Personal favourite, due to my own education and background, "Hamlet could never know the peace of a good ending; Benjamin, Derrida and the melancholy of critical theory". |
