Review # 1 was written on 2011-04-23 00:00:00 Arthur Greebler This book is very hard to read, but it contains a brilliant idea. After scholarly surveying different approaches to justice, it concludes that justice a concept that's very hard to agree on universally. There are three different main philosophical approaches to justice and they achieve different outcomes. The author instead suggests to focus on injustice, which is the category people actually care about and fight against. I think this is a new way of looking at an ancient problem that is very promising. |
Review # 2 was written on 2020-08-17 00:00:00 Menno Schellenberg Since I am now a resident of the Tri-Cities area, near the Hanford site, I thought I had better read about its history. While the history of and reasons for the Hanford Nuclear Site are disturbing in and of themselves, the book also raises questions about the so-called democracy in which we live. One quote in the book essentially sums things up for me: "There is nothing to be gained by informing the public." I don't remember the Hanford official who made the statement. It really doesn't matter. The book makes one wonder about the things people will do and the problems they will create in order to kill each other. |
