Review # 1 was written on 2018-11-11 00:00:00 Mark Walker It wasn't really about what it was described to be about. It was okay for what it was. |
Review # 2 was written on 2010-07-19 00:00:00 Erik Richards 7/28/12 Made me cry, as always. 8/8/11 Makes me cry every year. The combination of entire families lost to the Shoah (both the author's parents were sole survivors of large families) and the pain of wanting children she cannot have touches a lot of buttons for me. But this year I also wondered a lot about the pseudonymous author -- did she ever have other children? The daughter born at the end of the book must have been born about 1980; has she had children? I will probably never know . . . 7/19/11 Bought this when it was new, and have read it almost every Tisha b'Av since. Definitely apropos for the day. |
