Review # 1 was written on 2019-01-22 00:00:00 Susan Steckler 2.5 stars. An interesting collection of a number of articles on National-Cultural autonomy. Whether or not NCA is the way to go, it was refreshing to read about some other approach than just a) (territorial) nationalism and b) naive internationalism where national-cultural differences are more or less swept under the carpet to make way for some supposedly more fundamental interest (like class). As always, some articles were not as good as others. Thankfully a translation of Renner's original text was included. All in all however it was a bit more work to get through than I hoped for. |
Review # 2 was written on 2013-02-16 00:00:00 Alberto Duran This book analyzed interviews with white women on topics of race and racism in the '80's. It was overall a good book, though a little more academic than it needs to be. I would highly recommend reading at least the last two chapters, especially the one called "Thinking Through Race," which makes abundantly clear in a very powerful way (for me, anyway) the point that the way to end racism is through collective action. |
