Enjoyed this selection a lot, excited to read more of some of these writers. Very well put together with introductions that give insight into the authors and themes. Some stories really stood out, well told on multiple levels, with social commentary which at points was really really enlightening (such as a story that touches on a religious leader warning people that they will be cosmically punished, with dramatic irony essentially showing the reader that the events he uses to illustrate this are a lie). Also some very cool narratives beyond the skilful way they were told, Imra'a Miskina was particularly fun on a narrative level, could see it being adapted into a film etc. Some of the stories were less strong or a little uncomfortable, in the more blunt depictions of tradition and modernity clashing for example (at times unpleasant despite being deliberate).

Didn't finish... these stories aren't my cup of tea.
