My mother-in-law handed this book to me to read after she read it and enjoyed it. She knew the writer from living in Elgin, and we are very familiar with the subject matter. I found the book a quick read, and it is quite historical on the plight of the gay in a religious environment in the 50s up to the future. So if you are looking for a book like that, check it out. There was quite a bit (a little too much for me) of religion in the book, considering the author is a very faithful presbyterian, and it shows the journey that particular church has been on concerning the stance on homosexuals in their church. I found that part interesting, but also frustrating and a bit tedious. The book is short, but it could have been even shorter. Fast read, though. And the writer did a nice job of reporting her feelings throughout the book.
