Review # 1 was written on 2016-06-18 00:00:00 Charles Stuart Eh. I read through (well more like crawled my way through) almost one-half of this book. It's not that it's bad. The translation is somewhat strange at some sentences, but overall the writing was powerful - graphic in a poetic way, I might say. The stories themselves are not what I'm into. If you like horror, the occult, and graphic depictions of bodily harm, you'll enjoy this. But this is just not my cup of tea.

Review # 2 was written on 2011-08-17 00:00:00 Rodrigo Faria It was difficult for me to enjoy these dark and surrealistic short stories as much as I did Yu Hua's later works "Chronicles of a Blood Merchant" (superb!) and "To Live." Of those in this anthology, my favorite was "Classical Love."
