Therapists must undergo supervision as part of their training; Dr. Masterson is the supervisor in this book. He gives the therapist his opinion on their method, and highlights the strategies involved in therapy (particularly with borderline cases, where intense projections must be dealt with). It's fascinating, but hard to read, given the emotional difficulties of both the therapists and the patients.
