Review # 1 was written on 2018-02-08 00:00:00 Robert Morton I loved this book! It was quite an arduous, yet accessible read. Overall, I appreciate the threading of the slippage between race, class, sexuality, and gender throughout the book and how these social positionings are not static. This book is a living archive and still unveils truths about the contemporary moment. |
Review # 2 was written on 2009-01-15 00:00:00 JEFFREY ANDERSON So amazing...really made me stop and seriously think about Blackness and the ways in which it is performed. Also caused me to question the theory of performance and its relation to essentialism....his chapter on the Australian Gospel choir is what did that...if youre into Black Cultural Studies...must read!!! |
