Review # 1 was written on 2013-05-19 00:00:00 Michael Downs Coming off of a full-year internship at State High that challenged my ideas and dedication to teaching in so many ways, I am thankful that I read this book. The stress and demands of student teaching skewed my vision of education in an unhealthy way. I feel like this book helped focus my lens. It reminded me that teaching is meant to nurture a community where ideas and people are important. Where teachers are committed to their study, yet recognize the importance of a relational, approachable teacher, who looks to better the understanding of a subject with relevant and pertinent activities. It reminded me that we live in a democracy, where it is paramount for teachers to offer their students honest and critical questions and answers. It reminded me that ideas are constantly changing, that they need to be challenged and even amended. It reminded me that teachers, and I know it is trite, but touch the future. |
Review # 2 was written on 2015-10-16 00:00:00 Sarah Rosindale Неоднозначные ощущения. Местами интересно читать и понятно, где-то сложно разобраться и требуется большое внимание при чтении. |
