So far, there are only two things missing from this book: a solution and an analysis of the concepts of disparity of treatment within a system vs. over-representation within a system. Come on, can't everyone come up with a solution? Even a "pie in the sky, this can never happen in real life but wouldn't it be nice if..." solution? There's nothing in this book that I can say will honestly change the representation of AA children in foster care. Maybe it's all saved up for the end, and I'll have to revise this. Also, I am much more interested in the disparity amongst racial groups than disproportionate representation. Would folks rather see an influx of Asian youth (who are just as under-represented as AA youth are over represented) to make the foster care population look racially like the general population? No, we don't want that. What we really want is different outcomes for ALL foster youth, the vast majority of whom are African American.
