Great book! Some background in Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics is required to understand some of what is said. This book isn't for anyone with just a passing interest in Astronomy. The book lacks pretty pictures and gets down into the "How and Why" of each planet, along with a history of the names and faces that brought our solar system to light. The only drawback to this book (aside form being printed in 1992) is that Sheehan tries to cram what could be 500+ pages into a 200 page book. Some matters are discussed at length, while others are given a paragraph or less. All in all, I was most impressed by what appears to be Sheehan's overall message: Nothing in astronomy is infallible and what we know now is only a very small percentage of what we need to learn.
