Review # 1 was written on 2012-10-25 00:00:00 Danny Clark This book was a nice sort of break for me. That is, I've never really read anything by an anthropologist. It was interesting to read something from that discipline's approach towards the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution, since I have only really read historical and political-economic interpretations of it. The author speaks in an easy-to-understand tone and provides very interesting and sometimes humorous stories of her research in 1990's China about the material culture of the GPCR. You don't need to really know anything about anthropology and can still enjoy this book if you are a China scholar, novice, or enthusiast. |
Review # 2 was written on 2008-09-05 00:00:00 Christi Siebenthal An enjoyable book, short and sweet. The medical aspects of Lyme disease were discussed, but the majority of the book was about the bacteria that cause the disease, a refreshing change from the majority of human-centered popular science books. I think the book would be accessible to anybody with a basic high school understanding of biology. |
