Review # 1 was written on 2016-09-09 00:00:00 Kristine Barger I liked it as a review and commentary on a lot of Anne's books. The best parts for me were inclusions of information about Anne's life and quotes from her. Some of the opinions and analyses were a bit much - I must admit I skipped some of them. I read Anne for enjoyment, not as a scholarly assignment! |
Review # 2 was written on 2013-05-13 00:00:00 Anton Dimov I love this book because it takes you into the homes and inner makings of artists from Amy Tan, to Joyce Carol Thomas and many writers I had never heard of but am now curious to read. I am very fond of reading about what makes writers tick; this is a good inside view even if a bit dated. Actually, because it is dated, I find it all the more interesting. Published in 1990, Amy Tan had only one huge success at point, so it fascinates me to see how thee authors have grown, matured, changed ... or disappeared from public view.I am savoring it at the moment, but almost finished. The basic message from most writers is do it regularly, as serious work and be disciplined. One of my favorite interviews is with Harriett Doerr who returned to college at age 65! I find her very inspiring and look forward to reading her first published book,STONES FROM IBERRA. Has anyone out there read it? |
