Review # 1 was written on 2010-03-11 00:00:00![]() This is great book, the standard text for courses offering an introduction to Floridian ecology, but it also seems to not have been updated with newer editions, which I find a little surprising. The edition and cover of the book on here and on amazon.com is the same as the one I have which is at least twenty years old. That said, this is a collection of first-rate textbook chapters written by experts in various areas of Floridian ecology. If you want to know about the different ecosystems and animals of Florida, a very good place to start, and the chapters concerned with botany are especially strong. The worst thing, really the only bad I can say about this book, is that if you're into active scholarship and want to follow up on anything talked about in this book you're dealing with their cited literature . . . which is journal articles mainly over twenty years old. |
Review # 2 was written on 2012-02-22 00:00:00![]() I have this book, and it's a great reference. I haven't read it cover-to-cover, but would like to eventually. |
