Review # 1 was written on 2015-10-29 00:00:00 william jacob Probably the best Sierra Tree identifier book I've seen. Thin and light enough to pack with great simple drawings that are nice and big and a few paragraphs about each tree. If I had to pick one tree identifier book with me to the mountains it would be this one. |
Review # 2 was written on 2011-10-04 00:00:00 Sebastian Sears Newcomers to Sierra Nevada habitats get a no frills, black-and-white illustrated identification guide to the foundation species. What makes it useful is that it cuts to the essential information on two pages for each tree species. All species are organized by their readily seen characteristics into two keys: cone-bearing and broad-leaved trees. The well-seasoned enthusiast may appreciate the organization of the information and the appendices as a quick reference, especially Appendix A, the mountain graph of the dominant species at each elevation. |
