Not an easy book to find, but I highly recommend it to anyone interested in ancient cultures and religions.

Miss Hannah More was one of the most well-known poets and playwrights of late the 18th/early 19th century England. For several years, she enjoyed London society, attending plays, opera, readings and parties. Eventually, however, as she drew nearer to Christ, she made the conscious decision to retire from society and lived near her family in her home called Cowslip Green. Even though she had retired from "public" life, she remained very busy with her work among the poor of her area, as well as with the group known as the Clapham Sect, which included William Wilberforce, John Newton and others, known for their tireless work to abolish the Slave Trade. She wrote countless tracts and books for believers and people to help them understand both what was expected of them as followers of Christ, as well as on the topic of manners and conduct. This particular book was originally published under the title, "Practical Piety." It is very good Christian counsel for 21st century believers by one who lived and died over 200 years ago. Clearly her work stands the test of time!
