Review # 1 was written on 2012-11-19 00:00:00 Janine Thompson The publisher probably was desperate for a book; I can't even tell what the author's point is. The language is dense and unclear, even for a scholarly book. Any teacher of writing will say that unclear writing is the sign of an unclear mind; such is the case with this book. The writer appears to want to posit Twain and others in the South, but I wonder why he didn't just say how the South influenced the works in question instead of using the wordy and ambiguous term "seeking the region." |
Review # 2 was written on 2012-02-17 00:00:00 Renee Silva Never knew that Steinbeck wrote something like this. Propaganda for World War 2. Great intro---talks about how people made illegal printings of this book all through Europe during the war. |
