Review # 1 was written on 2016-09-17 00:00:00 Ann Morse This collection of essays focuses on the history of thrift in America, starting with Benjamin Franklin and continuing through the 20th and early 21st centuries. The book focuses on how to encourage low and middle income Americans to save, and offers insights into why it is often hard to convince Americans to do so. The book is full of helpful insights, and often contradicts the conventional wisdom about the poor. |
Review # 2 was written on 2014-11-26 00:00:00 Aleksei Limos Okay first I will admit I didn't finish this book completely. Second I did read quite a few of the essays in the book. When I saw the description I thought I would be more about Franklin but instead it was about banking in America through history by a lot of people. It was one of those books that were okay but very dry and I fell asleep reading it (like college). I might pick it up again someday when I am curious about banking. |
