An interesting and engaging study of the various representations of domestic crime in Early Modern England. Dolan's book contains chapters which discuss murderous wives and the legal judgement of "petty treason" for these individuals; the idea of petty treason/murder by wife or servant as a "subordinate" plot to the master's plot, using The Tempest and Arden of Faversham as points of comparison; the figure of the murderous husband; how infanticide was represented in the period and in drama, using The Winter's Tale as its example; and finally, witches as both victims of their situation and victimisers of other people in early modern England. I closely read the first two chapters of this book for inclusion in an essay on the representation of "monstrous women" in early modern literature which will consider Arden of Faversham, A Woman Killed with Kindness, The Faerie Queene, and Foxe's Book of Martyrs: Select Narratives. I'm looking forward to incorporating Dolan's critical position into my own essay, in particular with regards to the dramatised portrayal of Alice Arden's crime of supposed "petty treason".

Great analysis! It mixes History, Sociology and theory of International Relations to help you understand the concept of "international society" and how it was applied to all known international systems. The analysis of the European System, in particular, is amazing.
