I didn't like this one as much as the Ancient Iraq book from the same series. The writing just didn't seem as engaging, and though my daughter, 6, liked the interview with an archaeologist that appeared as a sidebar, she wasn't really able to absorb the information from the main text of this book as well as she did with the Iraq title. I probably will seek out alternatives before my next child hits first grade.

Pretty good kids' introduction to Ancient Greece. I learned a few things, including the four main eras that we all usually lump under the term "Ancient Greece": the Mycenaean, the Dark Ages, the Classical, and the Hellenistic. A decent overview of the basics but of course anyone wanting more detail should probably not expect it from a 50-page children's book. :-)
