Review # 1 was written on 2009-03-20 00:00:00 Akram Khitresh The government is there to govern in the minds of the bureaucrats turned author. And the simple mind does not stop here. If there is a government, there should be a way to have the cake and eat it too in a harmonious way. This volume rehashes disparate talks and thoughts around these themes without getting anywhere. Also, the book is deceitful from the title. It's about the US experience in the second half of the 20th century. Nothing about "government governing". |
Review # 2 was written on 2015-04-03 00:00:00 Mark Davis This is a collection of essays from the distinguished economist Walter Williams written during the beginning of the 80’s. I love Williams’ perspective. While I sympathize with much of his libertarian conclusions, I do not agree with all of them. His essay on abortion here is downright confusing (that’s putting it nicely). I am curious about his current position and if it has changed since this work. Overall, I recommend Williams works in general. |
