Review # 1 was written on 2017-07-07 00:00:00 Brian Boux This was the right wine book for me. I received it as a gift. I'm not an oenophile. I have never had any appreciation for the 'art' of wine. It was a great 10,000 foot fly over of the wine lovers practices and thoughts. It's basically a picture book with short paragraphs. I liked the fact that it avoided being preachy. Wine lovers seem like a group that is very clubby and irrationally passionate. This book was not. The tone was that of an assembly manual for a mid-range chest of drawers. What I missed, and was left looking for, was some sort of primer on the wines themselves. This skipped all that, assuming, I suppose, that you already had the habit and were interested in the peripherals. Like it or not I bought a bottle of red wine to go with my pizza tonight and I'll try to put it in the correct glass and hold it appropriately and try to taste it (rather than drink it).
