Review # 1 was written on 2016-11-06 00:00:00 Bruce Clayton 1. This is the story of Bobby, a little boy with polio, who goes to visit his Uncle Angelo with his mother and baby brother George. They are waiting at the Liberty Diner when a very special guest comes in for breakfast--President Franklin D. Roosevelt! Bobby learns lots of things that day. 2. Grades 1-3 3. History, Carpet Read 4. Students who like history will really enjoy this book. I also think students who enjoy the pictures more than the actual text will like this book because the illustrations are phenomenal. 5/6. I could use this book either in literature circles for a history project or as a read-aloud in class. Students could write how they are like Bobby or different from Bobby, or they could create their own weird menu like the Liberty Diner has. This book covers so many topics, there are countless ways I could use it in my classroom. 7. Daniel Kirk has written several other books including the Library Mouse series and the Elf Realm trilogy. 8. None |
Review # 2 was written on 2020-10-17 00:00:00 Sam Ghu This book was about a mom and her children going off to visit their uncle at the diner but while they're there, someone special comes and visits the diner making a huge impact. However, I thought this book was just okay because there wasn't anything too exciting or anything that made me happy to read it or want to read it again. I would say that the author wrote the book with not much detail and honestly seemed like there were parts missing in it. I guess it could be a good read for someone who just wanted to read anything. However, I thought the illustrations were very good and detailed almost like photos to help give the readers more to the story. |
