A fair analysis of 170 (maybe more) lesbian novels and fiction anthologies. Zimmerman is a head leader on lesbian criticism, so yeah, it's a really good book, Zimmerman's own politics shape que contents of the book, but is a really extensive and honest analysis of this works. In the book she analizes 5 categories of lesbian fictional writing: the "lesbian self" (particulary the coming out novels) the "lesbian couple" (particulary the romantic novels) the "lesbian community" (particulary the bar narratives and separatist utopias) the "difference" (particulary the novels by black and jewish lesbians) and the (then) "modern lesbian" (novels with emphasis in sexual escenes and "born this way" ideology)
