Review # 1 was written on 2010-02-13 00:00:00 Paulette Cullen This is a better than average specimen of the ubiquitous "[Something] Style" house-porn books that litter the bookshelves. I look at a lot of these, and most can be summed up by "good photos; bad text". Or "decent photos; really dumb text". The book at hand starts with an intelligent and nicely-illustrated essay on the roots of Western style, by Elmo Baca. The following photo chapters are unusually good, and the text is at least not embarrassing, and often pretty good. The photo captions are where the dumb errors enter, but wth. Worth a look, and available cheaply used.
