WHERE DO YOU SPEND YOUR TIME? The answer may shock you. In fact, as much as 75 percent of the time you spend at work is probably a waste of time. That’s right. 75 percent! If you’re looking to the exploding field of time-management tools for answers, you’re only wasting more time. After all, you can’t manage time. The only thing you can truly manage is what you do with your time. If you’re ready to propel your career and your life to new heights, Time Traps is the book. And now is the time. I like that this book includes some practical tips on how to take back your time and be more productive at work. By implementing them the author promises that you’ll not have to spend as many as 80 hours per week and still be as productive and maintain or increase your income. Who wouldn’t want that! However I feel this is not always practical, especially when you’ve launched a new business and need to get it to a certain level of success. You have to put in the leg work and wear all hats in your business: manager, technician, entrepreneur etc. But I like some of the concepts in the book like: - dam unnecessary tasks to control the flow of tasks and activities - get an assistant if you have to - limit the number of communication options you give to others. If it’s a real emergency they’ll find you - don’t give mobile number to customers - don’t give business contact details to friends and acquaintances The author mentions that many time management books to go far enough. They focus only on managing time efficiently but not on the important aspects of the value you provide as a professional and charging accordingly. This frees you from working with high maintenance, low returns clients.
