Review # 1 was written on 2015-12-27 00:00:00 John Marshall It was an interesting read but I am not particularly impressed. Some stories didn't seem to prize benevolence or make any moralistic points at all. The ones that did were very cliche. I should, however, remind myself that these are folk stories and I shouldn't have the same expectations for them as I would modern literature. It was interesting to find that the animals were regarded as people and could communicate with, and even marry, human beings. I wouldn't consider this compilation to be an accurate depiction of "Pakistani" culture, especially since Pakistan is a fairly new country. They make a point of saying in the introduction that they're mostly comprised of stories that have northwestern Indian influence.

Review # 2 was written on 2011-11-15 00:00:00 Ole Barre Fun short stories. It helps to understand the history of the culture, and enlightens where many traditions came from and how they're played out. A good read for kids or adults wanting to learn more and expand their imaginations.
