Morton Bustard's description of Joseph, the husband of Mary, sitting on the sidelines, but just as involved in the whole birth and life of Jesus is awe-inspiring. See my review of this book on Amazon.com.

The question of how to deal with the Christian right is an important one, as is the question of whether religion is inherently a problem or if it just seems that way because the ones we're exposed to were designed as tools for power building. I used to be more of the opinion that religion is a horrible way to unify and educate people but after years of studying primitive groups and developing a better understanding of what our modern scientific approach requires in order to prove what's "true", I feel that we really do need a more "ignorance-based" or humble approach to explaining things. I still don't agree with trying to make Christianity work but I can at least understand why people like Robert Jensen are trying. Whether you agree with him or not this one really makes you think.
