Review # 1 was written on 2020-10-18 00:00:00 Suzanne Gray Tuff Fluff had me laughing out loud. The rabbit detective's case was to find the stuffed duck's missing brain. In a charming and quirky take on the detective stories of yore, the rabbit (Tuff Fluff) uses deduction and old-fashioned detecting to solve the case. When an unexpected twist happens, everyone must pitch in to solve the problem. This is a terrific example of formula fiction in an accessible format. If I was going to introduce the genre of detective writing to my class, I would read this book first. It would be a great read in a college level film noir class, as well. If I had reluctant readers who loved mysteries, I would introduce them to this story. The illustrations are full of easter eggs that support the mystery genre. The text has many examples of tongue-in-cheek humor that may go over young children's heads, but would be enjoyed by the adults in the room. At last, a book parents and teachers won't mind reading over and over to children.

A stuffed teddy bear needs Tuffy's help: her best friend, a stuffed animal ducky named Ducky (duh!) is missing his fluff-brain and needs it back. Tuffy tracks down the downy fluff thru the mean streets of the toy attic he calls his hometown. The stuffed animal community's greatest frenemy, the beanie toys, are soon grilled by Tuffy faster than a cheese sandwich. The only clue lies in the pages of a book about Blue Jay the Pirate...but can they get Ducky's fluff-brain back in time, and have the case, not to mention Ducky's cloth head, all stitched up? Scott Nash has created a classic kid's mystery in the mold of Encyclopedia Brown and Sesame Street's Sherlock Hemlock. A new hero is born....the Bunny Identity! Four stars Are you Tuffy Enuff?
