Does every Black person who write cookbooks have to have one with "Soul" in the title? I am just curious. Could they conjure images of Paula Deen any more successfully? I hear Soul Food and I think of Southern food. I think of traditional Southern food and I think of so many dishes that I do not like to eat or prepare. I have a Southern heritage in many ways but I never fell in love with the cuisine. Here is another question: Are cookbook really unique in their recipes? I placed this book next to another cookbook and found many similarities. This is true when looking at most of them. So what is the great cookbook market appeal? Are we consumers expecting something special? Would I recommend? It depends on your cooking desire and goals. If you are a newbie to this type of cuisine, give it a loook. If you are expecting some earth shattering discovery-may not be the book for you.

Not until now did it occur to me to add my cookbooks - of which I have many. This is my newest favorite. The best cookbooks are those with a story. I got to know Delilah and her Philidelphia school years touched with Virginia farm-living summers. From a girlfriend's perspective she covers light entertaining and fine dining. Peppered with great photos of food and family I would loan it to others.
