Review # 1 was written on 2013-05-28 00:00:00 Arturo Escarze If you love animals - especially horses (like I do!), you will enjoy this book a lot. It is full of stories of the author and her vet husband working with & tending to lots of different animals, as well as introducing us to many of the dutch country farmers and other folks that they share their lives with. I felt like I was there in the beautiful countryside. There are a few swear words, so don't say you haven't been warned. The author's writing style cracked me up a few times, where she is overly dramatic or wordy, but overall I really liked her & her husband and their life full of animals!

Review # 2 was written on 2014-10-02 00:00:00 Wyatt Olsen This was a fascinating book to read. I knew nothing about the QAs before starting and learnt so much during the course of reading the book. Some of the details are quite harrowing, though the comments made by the nurses themselves are revealingly modest about their own actions. Especially, difficult to read were the comments about the treatment meted out by the Japanese. Also, the rescue of inmates from Blsen and the prisoner of war camps. I would recommend this as a different slant on the various books written about the Second World War, most of which have been written from a man's point of view and seldom mention the part played by women.
