Review # 2 was written on 2015-04-21 00:00:00 Jennifer-anne Toth This falls short of the mark of making a broad time period of history interesting and was in fact, very dry and jumped from one focus to the other instead of giving a balanced view of what was going on. The social history was very thin on the ground and large chunks of the book were dedicated to economic and political history but with little attention to the larger picture outside of those areas making it hard to grasp what was going on throughout the book. It would be a half decent reference book if you only had need of one paragraph or a couple of pages at most but as a standalone book, it isn't something that really works for me and I'd be surprised if many people actually owned a copy (excluding those who read the history of Spain widely) instead of quick referencing it out of a library. |
