Review # 1 was written on 2015-05-07 00:00:00 Kelly Kaiser Didn't finish this book and couldn't bring myself to read it after returning from Scotland. Nice overview of history though. Recommend it if you want a short course before traveling there.

Review # 2 was written on 2007-06-21 00:00:00 Marc Macri Well-researched and well-written. One has little sympathy for Pushkin, wondering how his brittle, offensive personality allowed him to live as long as he did. This is also an excellent study for the social history of Russia in the early 19th century.
