Review # 1 was written on 2012-11-29 00:00:00 Brett Alstatt The blurb from the book cover above says it all - packed full of information and data, this is a thorough review of the subject and essential reading for anyone with an interest in arctic-alpine environments. Only four stars because it was written in 1992 and with global warming causing 'recently deglaciated terrain' to be one of the fastest increasing habitats, as well as one of the least studied, an updated version is urgently required. I read it as a library book, and immediately bought a copy for reference. At over $100 ($200 for hardback) it is expensive for a 20+ year-old book, but I picked up an original hardback (in which the photographs are reproduced better) second-hand for $20.

Review # 2 was written on 2012-09-22 00:00:00 Yee May Leong okay so what is this book really about? well the title really actually gives the reader everything already becasue what cold get more simpler than "chemcials as friends and foes"? seriously,the book was kind of similar to "the hundred year lie" writeen by Randall Fitzgerald, however i think this book goes into detail just a little more. even more than the stuff in the "hundred year lie", the poison paradox is like all the foods that people eat and the itty bitty stuff people never knew about them before stuff. its pretty amazing. some things i did know before, but like theres a greater thing that is added to the book that makes it more like interesting and kind of more dificult to read.
