Nice historical read. Very interesting history from an area I am familiar with, the photographs are as some and really tell more than words alone.

Today, we see Grand Haven as a tourist town, and home to many. The area of Grand Haven is known mainly as "Coast Guard City" and a place many people visit in late July/early August for the 10 day festival known as Coast Guard Festival. Before the festival was even founded, the Grand Haven area was a whole different place than we know it today! Many images and descriptions are shown in the book, The Grand Haven Area: 1860-1960. Written and published by Wallace Ewing and David Seibold, The Grand Haven Area: 1860-1960 covers many topics such as: Resort Life, Life Saving Service and Coast Guard, Industries, Downtowns, Services, Private and Public, Residences, Humble and Grand, Transportation Overland and On Water, Recreation and Leisure, and Disasters, Large and Small. Personally, I really enjoyed reading about past disasters and re-buildings of things we see in Grand Haven today! This book is a good read for anyone, but I'd for sure recommend it to anyone who lives in the Grand Haven, Spring Lake, Ferrysburg area!
