Review # 1 was written on 2016-07-01 00:00:00 Julian Young Iranians in Chicagoland was written by Hamid Akbari and Azar Khounani. The book details the trip of Haj Mirza Mohammad Ali Moen- Ol Saltaneh who journeyed to Chicago in 1893 and many Iranians that followed. The book contains excerpts from his personal journey as well as pictures and profiles of Iranians that followed. The book does not provide much detail in terms of the personal daily lives; instead it focuses on the places they visited and their accomplishments. I think the book would be a little difficult for readers who are not in the 10th or 11th grade with some concept of the world beyond their immediate community. The significance of many places in this book would be lost upon younger readers without proper background knowledge, like the slab of Xerxes which belonged to the ruler of one of the most power ancient societies that existed.

Review # 2 was written on 2020-09-01 00:00:00 Mark Ogle Some beautiful pictures and I was able to get a much better idea of where my ancestors came from.
