Review # 1 was written on 2009-07-31 00:00:00 Peder Lerud I read the ebook version from my library. I liked how the author broke the book down to the four seasons to describe the historical way of life for each part of the year. However, it was choppy jumping from one poem or aspect of life to the next without a transition. I thought it was very poorly organized within each section and I wanted more description. Some of the pictures I thought could have been better labeled to get a better idea of where they exactly were taken from. I also wants more context--he did this when he showed "old home day" pics and then explained that it was a day for former residents who moved away to come back and celebrate their home town. Other times he introduced things without this context. Overall, it seemed like the author grabbed some pics from Jones Library and some quotes from authors who lived here and threw them together quickly. But, given I'm the only one on here to have read the book, I guess it's good the author didn't invest more time. |
