Who doesn't have someone in their family they might wish were less notable and noticed? Certainly not Joe Rafferty. His family is always blundering into trouble that needs his help. Geraldine Evans' characters are certainly notable in the best way. Once you get to know them, you are hooked! Rafferty is at a crime scene where a local turned entrepreneurial genius has been stabbed in the back, literally. Bad enough that this bully was someone he sent to school with. Rafferty was old enough and big enough to avoid the bully's attention back then, but his younger brother wasn't. The very same brother calls him at the crime scene to tell Joe that he had been at the party where the murder took place. Now Rafferty must find a killer not just for justice but to exonerate his brother. Trying to avoid any recognition of his brother, Rafferty hides him out for the duration. Of course the hiding place leaves much to be desired and his brother becomes ever more depressed and ungrateful of Rafferty's efforts. Having just proposed to Abra, it is the worst time for this trouble. When he should be spending time with his love, he is off caring for his brother, and trying to determine the identity of the real killer. Will Abra find out all that Rafferty is keeping from her this time? There are as usual too many potential suspects. Not a few of whom were also attendant at the same school with Rafferty and the victim. Who in the crowd of suspects would want to frame Rafferty's brother for the crime? Llewellyn doesn't know his cousin-in-law well, but surely he will recognize him from the photofit. Will the straight laced Llewellyn conspire to keep his name out of the suspect mix? It was bit boring at the start but later became interesting. The suspects are all equally holding the grudge to kill the victim and it was difficult to guess the killer before the book ended.
