A must read for anyone interested in studying/knowing more about literature. I find this book easy to read and understand, giving enough information to clarify every aspect. Even if it goes into deeper definitions, I do consider it a basic read and not something for those that have already an advanced knowledge about literature. One thing I enjoyed about it is the "Theories and approaches" section. Here you get all the details you need about types of theories and methods. You get to learn in detail about Formalism, Structuralism, the hermeneutic tradition, as well as all the theories that end in ''Ism''. Moreover, the book has a guide to the most important literary theorists, giving a further biography list that you can study if you want to learn more about them. I had to read this for a literature course and I am happy I did so. Definitely I learned the basics that will help me to better explore this subject in the future.

It's ok but I have not been significantly impressed.
