Tundra: The Arctic Land by Bruce Hiscock is a great read for research and enjoyment. It uses lots of info and his personal experience to show the life & secrets of the tundra. He starts out with an intro into winter. After explaining the outline, he shows his personal experience starting from spring. After that, he explains the animals and his adventures with them, and finally, he returns south along with the warmth. This book has attractive context to keep me reading, and even though the pictures are black and white, it's interesting and easy to follow. With the mind on trying to tell people of the tundra, the author wrote the passage with the information clearly matching up with his experience filled with all the senses. With the addition of his clear paragraph organisation, this book is highly recommendable.

This non-fiction book describes the natural history of tundra regions, with an emphasis on their resident birds, insects, and mammals. It depicts the interwoven nature of the living creatures of the tundra. It describes the culture of some native human inhabitants of the tundra and outlines potential impacts of encroaching commercial activities such as mining and oil drilling. This book contains accurate, relevant detail and would be suitable for advanced juvenile readers with an interest in natural history.
