Very informative book on the history of weaponry. Some of the weapons I was familiar with, but I learned quite a bit while reading this book. It does a good job of explaining what the differences are between different levels of weapon technology, such as matchlock or flintlock. Lots of excellent photos so you can see what it is you are reading about and mini biographies of some of the more prominent gun designers help round out the book. I wanted to give it five stars, but unfortunately it was poorly edited. There were plenty of typos, including some sentences where it just stopped in the middle, leaving out info that would have been nice to have. This detracted from the book, but it is still very good overall and definitely worth picking up if you are interested in weapons.

Not nearly as comprehensive as the title might have you believe, the information inside is still quite good. Definitely not an all-in-one reference on weaponry (if such a thing were even possible), but still a solid reference work for light reading/research.
