This book required two re-starts before I read it all the way through. It was necessary to ponder the author's suggestions and write in a journal. The book encouraged action and reflection. I now know the seven living virtues that lead up to and embody the celebration of Kwanzaa. There is still plenty of effort needed to create balance and harmony in my life, but A Plentiful Harvest has many great ideas for accomplishing those goals. The author fully admits she has more work to do on the virtues also -- lifelong requirements. There are many good quotes in the book, but at this time in our country, I like this one -- "Compassion and acceptance of yourself and others are the two cornerstones of humanity and community."

God Bless him and rest in piece. Thank you for your contributions to comedy and making us laugh til we can't breathe. This is hands down the funniest book that I have ever read. Bernie Mac tells it to you straight in this no holds barred collection of Bernie's life experiences on his way to the top. The book had me laughing out loud several times. I was embarrassed to read it while out in public. You will look like you are crazy laughing to yourself . It should be labeled "Warning: Read Indoors". Truly funny book and a breezy read. Its written in the way that Bernie Mac would speak so you get the rhythm quickly.
