Review # 1 was written on 2008-07-14 00:00:00 Brian Hinman Another book I found when trying to educate my fourth graders, this time about the culture of Puerto Rico. I borrowed it based on it's inclusion of Roberto Clemente, but found so much more! It made me proud to be a Latina, even though I have almost no interest in "beisbol." It features micro-bios of all the legendary (and some obscure) Latino baseball players since the first one (a Mexican!!) crossed the color lines after the first Negro player to do the same. The stats really impressed my male students and the illustrations amazed us all. A great find that I hope to someday own and share with my own children. |
