Review # 1 was written on 2016-05-27 00:00:00 edwin mayen I read this book about 10 years ago and remember enjoying it. It has a local flair since I know the author once lived in my home town. Seventeen year old Ivy leaves home for Florida with her "bad boy" boyfriend. After much heartache and abuse she returns home pregnant to find her family has changed - her mother has remarried and her brother has changed his family role. Ivy lives in the past with wonderful memories of her dead father. The story is very emotionally charged and deals with family dynamics. I found the storyline realistic and also enjoyed the dysfunctional family drama which I thought was portrayed with a nice division of easy reading fiction.

Review # 2 was written on 2020-03-13 00:00:00 Shawna Charbonneau Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants crossed with Gilmore Girls and wrapped in a funnel cake of wholesomeness and small town Tennessee charm. While the constant repetition of how much Tandy obviously Lurves that man she broke up with 10 years ago in high school began to grate on my nerves, this book otherwise made my heart feel like a warm muffin slowly rising and brimming over into a tiny mountain of feel-good satisfaction. I came for the scrapbooking -- an art I admire greatly, though my own efforts consist of very utilitarian and solitary cutting and pasting of clippings and paper ephemera onto plain 3-ring-binder pages with nary a photograph and little writing to be found -- but even though there's a whole lot of dialogue and it sometimes borders on cheesy, I ended up loving everything about this family, the town, and even the town's busybody side characters. And of course, Cooper the Basset Hound! Looking forward to reading the rest of the quartet.
